Family Therapy in Fairfax, VA

Helping families improve communication, handle challenges, and build healthier relationships together.

Working on It Together

During a family counseling session, usually at least two family members participate. The counselor discusses with the family both individual and shared concerns.

Whether a member of the family is struggling with behavioral problems, or the family is experiencing divorce, loss, or other major changes, we work to improve communication and address the feelings among members of the family.

Families We Work With

  • Parents and children
  • Blended families
  • Families in transition
  • Families supporting a child or teen in therapy

Concerns Families Bring

  • Behavioral problems at home
  • Divorce or separation
  • Loss in the family
  • Major changes such as a move
  • Communication that has broken down

When Family Therapy Works Alongside Other Care

Family sessions can run next to a child's play therapy or a family member's individual therapy, so everyone works on the same goals.

  • With child play therapy for younger children
  • With individual therapy for a parent or teen
  • As a step after supervised visitation, when appropriate
